Review of “Baluchi Romances in verse”

As some of you may know Dr. Jahandideh recently has published a new book titled “Baluchi Romances in verse”. He is doing a lot of filed researches about Balochi literature. In this book we can see a corps of traditional Balochi romances. Hani and Shaymurid and Eizat and Mayrok are some of the classical Balochi poetry.

Romance

At the beginning chapter, author is trying to explain Balochi literature. Lyric poetry, description of the lover, form of poetry,theme of lyric poetry, conflicts, deception, beginning and ending of this kind of stories has been discussed. The author tries to add some examples and review of literature from neighbor languages like Persian to illustrate the main features of lyric poetry specially in Balochi.

The main stream of the book begins with Hani and Shaymurid story. At the end of the book we have Eizat and Mayrok story. All chapters are well-formed in order to be discussed in details about every story and its structure. Although some the starting stories and chapters has been reviewed in more details,the ending one are poor in this regard. The write could add some social aspects to his review of these stories. For example he could explain the result of each stories in the future of society or add some explanations about impression of the stories on the Baloch society.

Poor review of some stories is one of the shortcomings of the book. The writer rewrites some of the details of the stories in his review,however, he has expressed them in previous part.

Shahdad and Mahnaz, BiBagr, Kiya and Saddo are some of the characters of Balochi Romances which has been properly discussed in separate chapters. Dr. Jahandideh could add more details to the latest parts like the story of Eizat and Mayrok and Haydar and Samanbar.

One of the good points of this book is gathering of old poems. Although Faghir-Shad in his Miras(Heritage) gathered a lot of Balochi poems,He didn’t explain them and not adding his reviews. Phonetic writing and Persian translation of the poems are the priority of Jahandideh’s work over Faghir-Shad’s.

At the end I should express my delightfulness about this work because it can be a start for gathering different traditional Balochi poems and new era in Balochi literature.

p.s: I find some typos and errors which I’ll send them privately to Mr. Jahandideh.

Today is Fedora’s day. Fedora release numbers reached to 14. Fedora 14 contains some good features like KDE 4.5 and D Programming. You can find all features here. If you want to check a quick tour of Fedora 14 just see here.
Fedora 14 is very special version for Persian l10n team and all Persian community because of two great events. Fedora Persian localizers made great contribution after several years. Based on Fedora translation instance, Transifex, we have more than 33 packages with more than 80 % translated strings. Another big step in translation of Fedora is Fedora documentations. we initiated translation of Fedora Docs into Persian. Now we have a localized version of Doc site for Persian. Here I want to thank all my fellows in Persian team for such a big contribution.

During development of Fedora 14 we had an event for gathering Fedora users in Tehran. This event was the first promoting event of Fedora in Iran. So I think Fedora 14 is an lucky release for Persian users.

Maybe one day we have a FUDCO in Tehran,who knows? what do you think about new fedora?

Today I want to add some points to ongoing discussion about localized spins in Fedora Project. As a member of translation team, I think there is no need to create such spins. In translation of any packages there are two surfaces that every localizers can work on. The first one is the translation of GUI. As my experience shows that great majority of users prefer to use the source language rather than their localized GUI. This case is very special for RTL languages, like Persian and Balochi. Because the users based on their previous experience with LTR interface are not familiar with this new interface. He can spend sometimes on RTL environment for example here, then when he surfs in internet, he uses LTR web pages. So the translated UI is not as favorable as we expect. For example, I myself get confused as I use a translated UI, because I don’t get accustomed a RTL interface at all.
The next item is translation of documentations. This is the point we should emphasis in localizing. A lot of Fedora users are not English native speakers or have difficulties in understanding English. As they get into trouble in using Fedora they are unable to find any local help, I mean in their computers. Localized docs can be useful here.
Shall we have a localized spin? frankly I should say that NO. As I check in Transifex in Fedora I find that we have 89 languages. If the Board authorized creation of a language-based spin for one language or two, the other languages that don’t have any spin up to that time may request a new spin. One day we have a lot of spins. I think it’s better to have a plan in development process to have some sort of modifications in coding for example in Anaconda. As a user select his region, for example, Anaconda suggest usage of localized version. developers can think about installing of selective packages based on users locale, for example.

پروژه فدورا ریگان به دلیلی برای کشور ایران از طریق سایت اصلی قابل پیگیری نیست. مهمترین دلیل آن وجود تحریم های است که توسط دولت آمریکا بر نرم افزارها اعمال می کند. متاسفانه ارسال رسمی و حتی دریافت سفارش در سایت رسمی پروژه دارای موانع قانونی است. ما برای آنکه این معظل در ایران رفع شود اقدام به دریافت سفارش ها از طریق فرمی کردیم که در وبلاگ من در منو قابل دسترسی است.

همانگونه که قبل گفته شد هر فرد می تواند یک بار یکی از بسته های فدورا را رایگان دریافت کند. شایان ذکر است که این یک تلاش فردی است و به پروژه فدورا و تیم میدیا ریگان ارتباطی ندارد. به سفارش های تکراری و ناقص ترتیب اثر داده نخواهد شد.

Farewell Fedora Project

Hello dear Fedorans

I am Mostafa Daneshvar. I was very enthusiastic contributor in Fedora Project. During this time I’ve made all my efforts to promote Fedora in Iran. I help guys from Iran to have a wiki for themselves. Attracting more than ten translators, some web programmers and OS developers were some of my activities within this time. I took part in different teams and introduced Fedora to them.

During my work I deal with a lot of difficulties. I tried to find a way to make Fedora available as much as possible in Iran, but the U.S laws caused problems for me.

My last project for Iran was Freemedia. I’ve sent some DVDs for guys in different cities in Iran. I think there is a will to stop me anyway and I should confess that he could do his job and halt me.

I’m writing this letter for the purpose of protesting against what’s going there and challenging the U.S laws. Hereby I want to describe my leaving procedure. I will :

post this letter to Board

publish it in my weblog and Fedora Planet

switch off Mail delivery of all lists related to Fedora

be a very simple user and not more

promise to be a nice guy

I won’t:

put my contributions here

say any word about Fedora to anyone

reply any emails requesting information or anything related to Fedora
